Welcome, Michele Capots: Director of Mental Wellness & Resilience
Updated: 5 days ago
Let Her Shine is proud to welcome Michele Capots as our Director of Mental Wellness & Resilience.
Michele is a transformational coach, international speaker, and storyteller whose essays have
appeared in Newsweek, The Washington Post, and Marie Claire. She has served on the Executive Committee of the Global Mental Health Peer Network, a nonprofit spanning 38 countries, and as a board adviser for Twogere, which supports youth mental health in Uganda.

Her work doesn't come from textbooks alone.
After a mental health crisis changed the course of her life, Michele set out to understand the psychological and biological forces that keep people stuck, even after recovery begins. More than two decades later, she brings lived experience and professional expertise to the questions most of us carry quietly: shame, self-stigma, self-worth, and what it takes to reclaim the parts of ourselves our struggles once took.
Where it started
We met Michele this past August, when she volunteered at Motivating the Teen Spirit. Let Her Shine was the event's lead community partner. Over two days, teens who arrived as strangers began opening up about anxiety, self-doubt, and feeling misunderstood. Michele saw it happen, and she wanted to be part of it.
She came back. At the Washington English Center, she supported Let Her Shine Co-Founder and President Thania Trieu in a storytelling and leadership workshop with more than 25 students, and saw what becomes possible when people are met exactly where they are.
In Michele's words:
"At Motivating the Teen Spirit, I was struck by what Let Her Shine brought to that room. Teens showed up as strangers and, in just two days, opened up about anxiety, self-doubt, and feeling misunderstood. They showed up vulnerably. At the Washington English Center, I watched Thania meet each student exactly where they were and guide then toward connection, ownership of their own stories, and finding their voice. I'm excited to keep building programming that helps women and teens reclaim their confidence, their worth, and their voice. One person, one room at a time."
Why this matters
Michele's mission is to redefine what it means to be mentally well, from the inside out.
That's our language too. At Let Her Shine, we believe women radiate from the inside out. Emotional Literacy is one of our four pillars because confidence, leadership, and economic power all rest on it.
Resilience isn't the absence of struggle. It's having the tools, and the people, to move through it.
Welcome Michele. We're so glad you're here. 💛
